[Sculpture 'The Greek Slave Girl'.]

Bet it would be difficult to strangle someone with shackles like that.

I'm a realist. Although my screen name is a satirical play on the stereotype of a drow female as a 'Man-Hating Lesbian Dominatrix' I assure you; I don't do slavery play lightly with strangers.

If your character is not engaging, interesting, and worth being around without being a slave ... odds are? I won't want my character to "own" yours.

My Drowess does not approach slavery in a consensual manner, nor do I, as a player, approach slavery in the world setting in which I RP as if it's some consensual or spiritual calling. In a medieval world -- whether you call it slavery or not ... it exists, and it's wide-spread and people who do not whole-heartedly obey their rulers are cruelly punished for not showing the proper respect to those whom hold power.

Historically, as the power of the upper class becomes more, and more obvious -- the abuses of their power become more and more obvious, and continue to ignore any decorum of human decency. Their power cannot be broken, because they allow those beneath them no freedoms, and no rights to weapons, communication, or freedom of movement required to organize resistance ...

Slavery is people treating people like objects. Most of them never rebel; out of fear.

Where people are traded, and sold for their beauty, or their skills, like objects of art, or livestock for silver and gold amongst the wealthy, or amongst those whom want to become wealthy.

This happens. Even right now, in real life. But the thing is?

I'm not interested in doing this because you want a Mistress. Or because you want someone to "own" your character. I am never, ever looking for "a slave". I am always looking for good roleplayers to RP with.. but I don't want to own your "character" if the deepest thing your character ever primally wanted was freedom, or to serve... you see -- a character has to be interesting before being a slave ... to remain interesting after being a slave.

"Unowned Slaves" are silly in a realistic roleplaying environment.

Being a slave is a job. It is not everything there is to a character, and if you can't write an effective non-slave, you cannot write an effective slave; I am not simply going to drag you around by the nose and give you free story-lines because you use your character's "helplessness" as an excuse not to have to push the plot~ <3

I'm more likely to try to take a non-slave character as a slave then I am to have my character buy your character... and by non-slave?

I mean that the player didn't come into the room asking in my IMs if my character would put a slave collar on theirs. If my character see's it? And wants it -- and has the opportunity? She'll go for it. Ideally, this will occure when you're not intentionally drawing attention to your character's vulnerable state.

NOTE: I sometimes assume laws exist to protect your character in places where you might be assuming it's okay for someone to snatch, attack or steal from you. Assume for a moment you're in a public slave market; I imagine city (or private) guards keep an eye out for that sort of shit. People in the city tend to be tax-paying citizens entitled to a small amount of protection from random kidnapping of their daughters off the street...

However? Slavery ( or death, or bribery, or rape, or flirting, or plotting and planning ) may be a consequence of playing an interesting (not exotic!) -- read; emotionally or intellectually provocative -- character anywhere near my drow.

Naivety is particularly unattractive in potential slaves.

In advnace, she doesn't have the facilities to risk trying to enslave anything supernatural.

Most slave players? They suck. They add nothing to the story, take no initiative to do anything but rebel, and lose all sense of self-preservation when their player gets "bored".. and rather then developing relationships with the people around them, they typically hyperfocus on the character that is their "owner".. and never do anything interesting, or of note that doesn't directly influence their relationship with that individual.

I love slavery. But like all things? Do it right.

Read the below comic please. The blond may be you. I'm the dark haired one.
